Pint Sized Powerhouse of the Week

Being a shorty of only 5’1”, I love to see other “height challenged” women excel in fitness. I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of petite sized women, (5’3” and under), making  such a strong presence in the figure and fitness industry.

I find these women extremely motivating, and have decided to dedicate a weekly post to these short but strong athletic women.
This week, I’d like to start off with an Aussie Favourite; Sara Picken Brown, also known as the Pocket Rocket; at only five feet tall, she’s shorter than me-that’s a  rare find!

Sara started out as a ballerina, performing internationally with the Queensland Opera and Queensland ballet before having to change career paths due to chronic injury. This turned out to be the start on a path to fitness greatness.
Besides having a successful personal training business, being an author, mentor and coach, Sara turned into a professional Figure Athlete with the IFBB in November of 2010. She now has 14 championship titles under her belt to boot!

Sara’s top five fitness tips:
(taken from http://sarapickenbrown.blogspot.com/ )
1. Set a clearly defined goal and outcome you want to achieve
2. Set a clear plan of action and a timeline with accountability flag posts along the way
3. Get your buddies in on the action-be accountable to someone you trust
4. Get clean-eat, drink ,think clean
5. Get moving- nothing happens without a little shake, rattle & roll....so get jigglin' people!
Go Short Power!

Do you have any pint sized powerhouse nominations? Let me have ‘em!

Can you say....

All Females 2012?!

(I know it says 2011; they don't have the 2012 poster yet)

Hello blog land! I've been bitten again! Twice! Got the comp bug and the blog bug all rolled up into one big old bite!
I know I said I was done, on both counts-but I'm learning to never say never; it's only taken me 44 years to figure that one out-lol!

So here I am rip, roaring and ready to go. I have been thinking hard since last week when I first started getting some serious competition thoughts stirring in my brain and have decided to go for it. I wanted to do the All Females back in 2010 when I did those last two comps, but 3 comps in one year was just going to be a bit much on the bod and bank-book, so I opted out of it.  I truly thought I'd gotten the whole comp thing out of my system and said I would NEVER compete again, but something came alive in me last week and it's still there, stronger than ever.

I really just feel it this time; can't explain it, but that's what it is; just feelin' it.

Every time I hear this certain song on the i-pod, I start getting that little excitement going and last week I was doing some play around posing in between spotting John on bench, and I said "This would be a good song for a posing routine, not that I want to do that again" but John knows better and must have seen that little twinkle in my eye and said "Yeah you do, you got another in ya; go for it!"
I have not stopped thinking about it since-and have decided , hell yeah, I'm in!

My plan is to work on building some fierce muscle. Last comp my goal of building muscle came up really short; this time is different. This time I'm lifting serious heavy weights and consuming serious protein. I am already seriously focused this time; and super psyched! And did I mention SERIOUS?! LOL

I know it's ages away, and much can happen in seven months (it's scheduled for June 24), but then again, seven months can go damn fast; so I am on it! I already have my training plan mapped out-just need to zero in on the food a bit more.

So, here we go again folks! Who else is in?
Ciao for now!
