Now, onto the movie-
To me, this movie is very important because it's about freedom. Right now, the US government is spending millions of dollars cracking down on small, sustainable, humane farms that are usually quite in harmony with the environment and simply selling good clean food to their neighbours. Where is the freedom of choice when you can't buy the healthy food you want? Why is it we can buy alcohol to our hearts content, cigarettes even after we've contracted lung cancer, and all the carcinogenic disease causing fast food our tummies can endure yet we can't go to the local farm and buy raw milk without jumping through hoops and making it very difficult on the small farmer?
Oh, sure, it's not as bad here in Australia; I'm not aware of SWAT style government raids on any small farms here-yet. But raw milk is illegal here as well-oh, sure, we can jump through a few loopholes-but you don't have to pretend you're buying something for the bath when you go to the liquor store now do you?
And it's not just raw milk-it's sustainable truly pastured animals and organic foods. And ask yourself, how many times have we heard over the last decade of disease and illness outbreaks from spinach or tomatoes or bean sprouts, yet these are still readily available (as long as they are from big AG industry farms!) and have not been outlawed. Yet this is the reason they give for outlawing raw milk. Do the research-when it's done in a clean environment-which these small farms generally are since they use their products too-it is an extremely healthy and healing food.
It's absolutely outrageous-but hey, if you like the government telling you what you can and can't eat-then hey, you go right on ahead-keep eating that processed carcinogenic, inhumanely raised food, after all Big Pharma has plenty of pills to keep you alive WHEN you get sick...maybe not healthy, but alive!
