Well, if you've read this blog for even only a few weeks, you probably know how I feel as I've got fit chicks plastered on many blog posts..LOL! Yep, I find these pics motivational. But, I'm curious about what you think. When you see fit chicks on blogs or in magazines does that motivate you to get up and get moving, maybe push a tad harder during a workout? Or does it annoy you by pointing out that maybe you can't get quite that particular shape? Perhaps it downright depresses you or maybe you can't even stand many of the more muscular looks.
Whatever feelings these types of photos bring on...I want to hear about it. Be honest, be brutal...curious minds want to know!
Cheers all and ciao for now!

Pictures of a man or women inspire/ motivate me.
I think fit women are the best! They remind me that all women are not lazy, nesting things bent on security. I am inspired to work harder because I want to know that I can hang with them and not look out of place--I'm not the token "fat guy". Some folks my find fit women distracting or offensive, but I generalize that those folks do not understand the work it takes to achieve and maintain the work of art that is a trim and athletic female form.
Hi Raechelle,
I looove seeing pics of fit buff chicks. I find them very motivating and make me want to work harder. I use these pics in my motivation book to look at when I'm doubting myself or not feeling motivated to keep training. Keep posting the pics on your blog - love em! Shannon :)
Hey Raechelle (sorry it is a long comment today!),
Fit and athletic female bodies are very inspiring! I first picked up Oxygen mag about 7yrs ago and it was these gorgeous, well sculpted figures that initially got me started.
As I have gotten older, and had a family, my view has changed a little. I still admire these fantastic physiques, but I now draw more motivation from inspiring transformations (like the ladies you showcased in your blog the other day). I have found that the fire in me starts to burn fiercely when I see and read about other ladies out there who have turned their lives around (and their bodies) and have got themselves off the couch and into a fit and healthy lifestyle.
I don't just mean the fit mother's of the world either! You know, the ones, who have worked against all odds (illness, relationship problems, family issues, job issues, etc...) to achieve their fit chick bodies (eg, Michelle Nazaroff and Tosca Reno).
And of recent I am drawn toward those who are strong and dedicated and motivated. The one's who have allocated time and effort into making it to the stage (around everything else in their lives).
Ultimately, for me, I guess my motivation source comes directly from what is happening in my own life at the time. I know 5yrs ago I would have looked at a figure competitor and gone, "there is NO WAY on this earth that I could ever look like that!!!!" So I guess, we as human beings tend to align ourselves with what is current for us!
Also, I am now at a point where I have a lot of internal self motivation. I have reached the point of wanting it for myself, and not for others, or to be like others. It took me a few years to get to this point.....of wanting something for myself and not the pleasure of others! But, it is a good place to be...'cause as we all know if we love doing something we will do it more often and more willingly!
Oh, I have also learned that all the motivation in the world is not going to be enough......a strong supportive network around you, to help in whatever journey you are taking.....is priceless!
Depends Raechelle,
I find them irritating if it looks as if they've used the gear to get to where they are.
I prefer a more natural looking fit physique( eg our natural figure girls, swimmers, triathletes etc) I think "natural" is really the key.
I think it depends on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist at heart. I think if you are optimistic about everything (including your own potential), then you would find inspiration from pictures of people who have worked hard to get where they are. I also think that most people who find those kinds of pictures annoying would be people who are frustrated with themselves and their own lack of progress, or struggling with self-worth issues. You know... the old "tall poppy" syndrome.
1st I think: "Lucky Tart"
2nd I think: "Sad, I will never look like that"
3rd I think: "Oh fuck it, gunna go eat something".
4th I think: "NOt a chance now"
5th I think: "MUST NO VISIT RAECHELLE'S BLOG EVER AGAIN"... NAH just kidding!
I love your blog, even if it does depress me sometimes seeing all those gorgeous bods... and avocado! Ikkkkkk.
Wow Raechelle, some great comments made. I agree with Liz, I prefer the 'natural' look (as opposed to steroid induced, gigantuan females who look like males?).
For me (I'm sure you know this), I find the photos highly inspirational, and a lot of my inspiration pics have been compliments of your blog (thank you very much...esp. Pauline Nordin, my current inspirational pin-up gal).
I know there are women out there (like a few of my friends), who think that muscular is just too much, but I think it relates to their own journey and possible insecurity about where they are fitness-wise (they are usually a little over-weight).
Realistically, we know that a big portion of fit chicks in the photos (not all of them of course) are young, maybe never had children, or experienced as many challenges as yet, due to their age. Hell, I know if I had started on my fit chick journey when I was 21 it would have been alot easier - no stretch marks, flat stomach, scars and beautiful unblemished skin, then the results I'm sure could have been similar.
But regardless, for me, I know the reality, but that doesn't stop me aiming for what I see in fit chick photos. And I also understand and appreciate how hard those women have worked to achieve what they have.
Oops...sorry, a bit long...LOL...
:)
I find the photos inspirational and motivational. I don't convince myself I can look like them though, I tell myself I can look like MY version of them, taking into account my bodyshape and athletic ability.
hi all!
i think im so used to seeing these pics they don't have either effect anymore.. lol! Ali and I have pro pictures of ourselves at ~4weeks out from comp and while looking at them now we see happy faces, at the time i distinctly remember feeling drained and exhausted! so if nothing else, when i look at 'fit pics' I admire all the hard work that has gone on behind the smile.
I find them very motivational personally, i think they look stunning and I think a hard muscular women looks very attractive, I dont however think I will ever look like that, I simply dont have that much time and dedication to exercise, but I dont find its a little push to work that little bit harder for my own goals.
:)
Thank you all for the great comments! Love to hear what other people think! :-0
I don't want to be the party pooper but I'm thinking that maybe I am not the only one who finds pictures of women in competition condition kind of sad. Unfortunately I might be the only one who speaks up because apparently "most people who find those kinds of pictures annoying would be people who are frustrated with themselves and their own lack of progress, or struggling with self-worth issues"
I know how hard it is to get even close to looking like that (without chemical help) and it is only achieved by restrictive dieting, and with the short term manipulation of carbs, water, sodium, potassium etc. There is NO-ONE who looks like that every day of the year.
There is no way you can convince me that looking like that even for a short while is healthy for either your body or your mind. I'd rather be inspired by stories of courage, appreciation and love than by images of thin, water depleted women.
Of course, this is my opinion and it doesn't make me right and everyone else wrong or vice versa. I am happy for others to have different preferences ~ after all, we are all unique. But you did ask ... ♥
Thanks Katie. I did ask for honest opinions! It's good to have an opposing voice come out once in a while...makes it more interesting-don't you think?
cheers!
