The humble and very nutritious TOMATO!




Summer is quickly approaching (for those of us Down Under anyway!) And many folks are getting their gardens ready for summer action! Tomatoes are on my list…and after reading the following article-I’m going to plant even more!

One of the greatest things about summer is that it's fresh tomato season. In addition to being delicious and incredibly versatile players in all sorts of dishes and cuisines, tomatoes are nutritional powerhouses that give trendy imported and obscure super-foods like açaí and goji berries a run for their money—without costing you a ton of cash. Sheesh, I am still waiting for my winter veges to grow, to do SOMETHING but look miserable!
Summer... BRING IT ON... and tomatoes.. YES ! I always grow them, and this year I'm gunna grow double last year's crop. We are still eating frozen tomatoes from my last year's effort!
They are awesome to add to casseroles, soups etc.
