JUNK-FOOD PUSHERS

Almost every day now, I talk to someone or read a blog about friends, family & co-workers trying to push their s**t food on them when these gals are trying their darndest to get fit and be healthy. What is with these people?!

Why is it that WE the ones that are eating REAL food and taking care of ourselves are the odd ones out? Why do WE have to explain ourselves? How come YOU can shove that big, fat, ugly, greasy burger into your face and nobody bats an eye-WE sit down to a lovely colourful, healthy salad made with real vegetables and chicken with some low fat cottage cheese and everyone just has to start joking & asking questions; eating real food has become such a frickin’ novelty?! EEGADS!

Besides the fact that YOU are weak and lazy-YOU are also rude! Knowing your co-worker is desperately trying to stay on track and YOU put a cupcake down on a her desk, just to get your jollies! You’re mother obviously brought you up in a barn with manners like that!

Unfortunately, I know none of these types of people read my blog-otherwise I would love for them to give an answer to my question….Why do you feel the need to push your crap food onto US? Why, Why, Why?

I suppose then, ladies and gentlemen-it’s up to US to get these answers in person. WE need to lay down the law. After all, WE are the ones to decide what goes into our mouths-if WE want a salad with grilled chicken, WE will damn well have a salad with grilled chicken! And the next time THEY try to get their jollies by pushing their crap food into your face, ask them flat out “Why are you so desperate for me to eat that?-What is your purpose for wanting me to eat that? Do you have a reason or do you simply hate me?”

THEIR weakness just makes US stronger!

After all the fuss with MY "office food w*nker" the other day, we found the cake yesterday, in the fridge...no-one had eaten it!

Yeah it's pretty interesting that it has become so "freaky" and "obsessive" to try to look after your body isn't it?

I get hassled all the time at school by my colleagues about my diet, mainly because I don't usually drink alcohol. Most of them are normal sized people mind you but there isn't an enviable physique amongst them. I am always getting told that I need to stop obsessing about weight/food/health etc! Sometimes it really gets to me!

That is why I PERSONALLY dislike shows such as The Biggest Loser. I feel like it makes it OK for these people to have completely and utterly neglected their bodies and their health because they have had a few struggles in their lives. It is a basic fact that we all have problems that we have to deal with and as soon as people stop trying to drown their troubles with food/alcohol/drugs and just try to deal with them in practical ways they will be much better off!

Great post Raechelle!

Great post Raechelle! I've had a couple of 'discussions' with people regarding my dietary habits. Its funny as its always with people who are overweight.

THEIR weakness just makes US stronger! As you said.

I have family compulsively purchasing junk and leaving it around the house. I do vent but its to no avail.

awesome post :)

Ive been calling them 'crap pushers' since reading this letter a while back:

http://www.bunklers.com/Crap_pushers_sample_letter.html

my guess at an answer to WHY? is that it makes them feel better about the crap they are eating! im going to a chinese restaurant tmrw night and have pre-ordered plain steamed vege w boiled rice and am preparing to cop it bigtime! Sigh.

LOL FRANKIE!-Your office story was one I had in mind when writing the post ;-)

Yes RENE-how did "being healthy" turn into "being obsessive"?

You're right MICHELLE-that's usually the case!

Thanks KELL-glad you liked it!

That's too bad ROSSO that your family doesn't follow your lead-it happens all too often-KEEP TRYING!;-)

Oh yea-I remember reading that a while back too STEPH. Yep-they are weak and want everyone around them to be weak too. ENJOY THAT CHINESE MEAL GIRL!

I wrote an entry about the same when my the host looked insulted that I did not want any birthday cake. I had to use all of the excuses..."I"m full. Maybe later." until I finally said "doctor's orders" and that seemed to do the trick. Ugh!

I sometimes get reactions from folks at the office because I eat "weird things"--which actually aren't weird. They are simply REAL food. Y'all should form a posse and start infiltrating offices and fast-food places.

You should check out IN DEFENSE OF FOOD by Michael Pollan.

I hear ya' LINDA! It's unbelievable that we have to come up with excuses to not eat something full of sugar!

I will check that out Heather dear!

I hear ya baby - I'm over it too!

Dont understand why they do it - dont suppose I ever will - my guess is that they feel guilty, and that maybe we somehow dont enjoy eating real food and feeling so darn fabulous and on top of the world physically.... My house mate and her bf are always having a go at me at the way I eat - I never ask them to eat it - I never make comments on their crap - so why do they feel the need to ALWAYS make a comment on my food and my body...

I just dont get it........
