Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”
William Faulkner
Well, yesterday was chest & shoulders….very good workout-Didn’t break any record for my PB..but still, it was the best PB I’ve had in about 8 months.
Last February I was able to do a one rep max of 57k (125lbs)…yesterday I did a one rep max of only 52k (114lbs). So, I now have another goal for 2009-to get a one rep max of 60k (132lbs)! And to do that at my goat weight of 52.5k (115 lbs).
Now, I know I’m motivated-and I just increased my motivation by adding another reachable goal. How about you? Are you still motivated to achieve the goals you set out for the new year? Whatever you do-do not tell yourself you’re not motivated!!! I recently read an article about tips for maintaining motivation and this is the number one thing not to do. By being negative and telling yourself you’re not motivated-you are in fact setting yourself up for failure.
If you start to hear yourself saying the words “I’m not motivated” –take a minute to remember what had motivated you in the first place. If you had desire to lose weight four weeks ago-did that desire to lose weight disappear? Most likely not-so basically that is still your motivation.
Unless you truly do not want to lose weight, (or get more fit, or stop smoking)-then you are in fact still motivated! So just take the phrase “I’m not motivated” out of your vocabulary!
On to TASTY TUESDAY’s recipe….
Gnocchi , spinach & turnip salad
1 Turnip-chopped
¼ cup leek-chopped
4 large mushrooms-chopped
1 tbs minced garlic
drizzle of olive oil
1 package potato gnocchi
2 cups baby spinach-roughly chopped
sauce-
1 avocado
2 tbs yogurt
1 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs of flax oil
Sauté turnip and leek in pan for about 5 minutes, add mushroom and garlic & olive oil-for about 5 more minutes-set aside.
Cook gnocchi in water til done –drain and leave to cool slightly.
Chop spinach and place in a large serving dish.
Mash up avocado and mix with yogurt, lemon & flax.
Toss turnip mix with spinach, add in gnocchi, then avocado sauce and serve.
Approx 248 cals and 11.3 grams of fat per serve. (and that is from the avocado and flax-both healthy fats!)
I served with some Moroccan seasoned chicken

Hi Raechelle, thanks for your message in my blog. I like the quote! And nice work on the lifting. I never would have thought of using turnips in a salad - might have to give it a try.
Thanks CHARLOTTE! Glad you like the quote-and yeah-I never would of thought turnips could be so good-but saute'd with the leek, garlic and mushroom-yum! Let me know how you go with it!
